lark + mama

I prefer to think of Sunday as starting the week rather than ending the weekend. And, so far, this week is starting out pretty great.

shop update

This week's shop update.

Thank you for all of the scallop love this week! I enjoyed making the tutorial and hope some of you will try it out - if you do I would love to see!

The rest of this week my goal is to spend as much time outside as possible, soaking up some sun and letting the girls get their hands nice and dirty. I think some lazy days at the lake are just what we need...

vintage may guest post

Hello friends! Today I am excited to be a part of Vintage May, a series co-hosted by Kristin from Skirtastop and Jess at Craftiness is Not Optional celebrating vintage style! I am over at Kristin's lovely blog sharing a tutorial on how to alter a dress pattern to add a sweet vintage-inspired scalloped yoke (and make sure to check out the bonus section at the bottom - here is a hint!).

Head on over to check it out, and make sure to follow along for the rest of the series - Kristin and Jess have rounded up some lovely ladies to participate and I can't wait to see all of the vintage-inspired loveliness to come!

mother's day

I know I am late to the party, but happy Mother's Day to all of you lovely ladies! This was my early morning view and I don't think I could have had a better one. These two girls make me feel so lucky to call myself their mother.

There was no sleeping in or breakfast in bed since Husband was out of town all weekend (I had similar feelings as last year - reading that post again was good for me). But, at the end of the day I felt loved and that is all that matters, after all.

Although, next year I wouldn't mind a good sleeping in...

shop update

This week's shop update.

Lately, I am having a hard time focusing on today while I am dreaming about tomorrow. You know that lull of time right before an anticipated big change, the beginning of a new chapter, or next exciting phase of life? That. We finished everything we needed to do in order to finalize things for the house, so now all we can do is wait. Aaaand, wait. Without any "to-do's" to check off I am feeling a little antsy and I think the only cure will be to hold the house key in my hand, which hopefully will be sooner rather than later.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed excitement about our venture to become homeowners. I know I am being a bit vague about the details at this point, but I am sure they would just bore you - suffice it to say I am ready for these details to be over so we can get to the fun part!

moon gazing

This weekend was pretty magical. Husband and I got to celebrate our five year anniversary spending two glorious days sans kids, relaxing, talking without being interrupted, and eating so. much. delicious. food. Apparently, we like to celebrate milestones by stuffing our faces guilt-free and I am perfectly okay with it. We did visit the resort gym as well so at least some calories were combated, and I'm sure we also sweat some out in the sauna where it got a little, well, steamy... ha...

After brunch on Saturday (and a stop at the bakery we happened to pass by) we picked up the girls from my mom's house and found out LM woke up not feeling well that morning. She slept most of the day and with Lark still napping it was actually a nice way to ease back into parental responsibilities again. After resting all day, however, LM was wide awake later that night (and thankfully feeling much better). Her wakeful state turned out to be perfect timing for some late night super moon gazing, so we gathered up a pile of warm blankets, drove up to a grassy area at the top of our street, and watched the biggest, prettiest moon we'd ever seen gradually inch over the dark mountain silhouette and into the night sky.

"Mommy, look! I can see all the different countries on the moon!"

We stayed until LM got sleepy and requested her bed, then we said goodnight to the moon...

I only had my iphone so by no means do these pictures capture the true breathtaking beauty of the moon that night, but I am happy to have captured a little bit of the magic. And, to have shared it with two of my favorite people.

five years

This Friday is husband and I's five year anniversary. I know he doesn't make appearances here very often, but that has no bearing on how much I love and appreciate him and the life we have built together. Looking back to the beginning, I smile as I see two smitten college kids going to dance parties or concerts every weekend, long boarding down quiet streets at dusk, and making plans months in advance knowing we would still be together. Now, we are the parents of two beautiful little girls, on the verge of being homeowners, and juggling much more responsibility in life, and I am still smiling. In this short space we have loved and learned to love and had our love grow, and I certainly feel like one lucky girl.

Especially, because he is whisking me away to start the weekend early.

Have a good one my friends!
