birthday weekend

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, mine was pretty great. Friday was my birthday so I treated myself to some shopping during the day and then Husband took me out for a surprise date that night. He wouldn't tell me where we were going and I was shocked when he pulled up to a certain shop and said I could pick out a present. I'll keep it a secret a little longer because I actually don't have my present to unveil yet, but I was so happy and completely taken off guard. I never would have guessed and those are the best kind of presents I think. Then we went to a delicious dinner, got dessert to go, and ate it on a blanket up the canyon at a park next to the river. We talked until it was dark and since we didn't have candles I made my birthday wish on a star. A simple birthday but one of my best.

I have a feeling this week is going to be hard for me to dig into... I feel more like lazing about on a beach than folding the laundry.

weekend snapshot: the fair

One of the events packed into this weekend was a trip to the fair. I had driven by several times as they were setting up and knew that the Little Miss would have the time of her life on the merry-go-round. She knows all about them from her favorite video that sings a song about going up and down and around and around.

Oh boy, was I right! She rode a white horse...

...and then a black horse...

...and insisted we go for a third round, this time on a tan horse.

After the third time on the merry-go-round we convinced her to try out the train ride. Her stoic expression is so misleading - she wouldn't get off the ride when it ended and the worker had to pull her out. After two train rides our tickets were gone so we got some treats.

And when she wouldn't let go of my leg I knew it was time to go.
Can't wait for next year.

we love daddy

Happy Father's Day!

This marks the second year in a row that I have made Husband his favorite lemon meringue pie so I think we can call it a tradition now. I even decorated it this year, but sadly (or funnily) our printer ran out of yellow ink, so pink, purple, and lavender flags were the best I could do on short notice. Sorry Husband. Just remember how delicious the pie tasted.

We love you so and hope you know how much we appreciate all of your hard work. How did we get so lucky? I don't know, but I am grateful for you everyday.

And to my dad, what can I say? I can think of a list about a billion items long that I need to thank you for but I'll just say this - thank you for always making me feel loved and being there for me no matter what, and for being the best Pop-pa to the Little Miss. She undoubtedly adores you.

shop update: red, white & blue - Part 1

Last week I mentioned I would be adding more boy clothes to the shop, but seeing as the Fourth of July is just around the corner (yeah!) I thought I would add my more patriotic attire first. So head on over to see what's new!

Part 2 will be added sometime this weekend and includes my favorite sailor dress ever. I'll keep you posted. Happy Friday!

you make me happy

I received this print by Ashley G in the mail right before the Little Miss had her accident. In the craziness of that moment it was left half forgotten until today when I gave it a temporary home on the wall in my craft room. Whenever I look at it I think about Husband and the Little Miss, my family and friends, my faith, and everything in my life that brings me joy - including you and this little space. I have a lot to be grateful for and countless reasons to be happy. So thanks for being a part of that.
