going on a bear hunt...

We're off on our first camping trip of the summer this afternoon. I'm excited to be able to spend an unplugged weekend with family with only card games and conversation for entertainment. It will be a nice break.

I have big plans for the Little Miss' birthday party when I get back so hopefully things will pick back up around here and become more interesting - I let summer laziness set in, but I'm feeling ready to shake it off and get to work. Hope you have a great weekend!

trafalgars square

Recently I did a trade with Kit from Trafalgars Square and received these two sweet prints in the mail. I must say they are even more gorgeous in person and I can't wait to get them up on the nursery wall once we re-paint (which we haven't found the time to do so far this busy summer). She is having a sale in her shop so now is the time to snag yourself a print or two. She is great to work with!

deja vu

I had a serious deja vu moment last week when I stumbled upon a vintage outfit I had already sold in the shop last year - the best part being it was one of my favorite items ever so I was elated to find another one! The talented Merrilee from Mer Mag scored the first one and doesn't her son look so dapper in it? Unfortunately, this time around the shorts were no where to be found, but the jacket, shirt, and bow tie are all available right here.

summer time

Lately we've been...

laying on blankets outside reading books
trying to get the garden to grow
visiting with family from out of town
going to the park and then leaving because it is so hot
swimming at the local pool
working on getting around to finishing some projects (this includes finally using some polaroid film)
going to the lake for the Little Miss' first boat ride
enjoying doing pretty much nothing at all in between

This week flew by for me but I'm not complaining that its Friday! We are planning to take a trip up the canyon to explore later today. Hopefully we will find lots of wildflowers and bugs to admire. I feel like the summer is already slipping away and we need to take full advantage of the beauty we are surrounded with here. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

thirfted goodies

Some of my favorite recent finds...

Cute boy shoes. I don't think I will be able to part with those sneakers, but the rest will be in the shop eventually.

This vintage tablecloth was still in the original packaging and the colors are amazing. Makes me want to have a picnic.

A sweet Raggedy Ann and Andy mirror. Unless my mom wants this for the kid's room at her house, this will probably end up in the shop someday too.

And lastly, I was so excited to finally find a dresser for the Little Miss' room. I've been looking for months and it seemed every time I came across one that I liked it had a sold sign on it! Darn those early risers. This one is perfect though so it was worth the wait. The bones are good, but I'll be stripping the paint off soon. If the wood is pretty then I'll refinish it, otherwise I'll re-paint.

sailboat top

I got it in my head that I needed to make a shirt with sailboat pockets after coming across this inspiration. I decided to use one of my vintage patterns that had heart shaped pockets and switch them out for sailboats. It was a little tricky constructing the boats and now I realize how I could have made them better, but, regardless of any flaws they might have I am happy with how the shirt turned out. And the Little Miss makes one cute little sailor.

p.s. The wildflowers are in full bloom in our back yard. I love this time of year.
