smile list

Some peeks into my newly clean and organized craft room. All of these things make me smile...

1. This poster
2. My Grandmother's earrings
3. Wooden spools of thread
4. New old thrifted dresser (which now hides most of my mess)
5. Fabric and yarn
6. Beautiful wedding ring quilt given to me by my mother
7. Vintage children's clothes

What do you surround yourself with that makes you smile?

it's beginning to feel a lot like...

This weekend I held my brand new cute little nephew (my sister was due exactly 5 months before me and you better believe I got so scared and excited that it's officially my turn next), spent time cleaning and organizing my craft room which was in total chaos, acquired a bunch of the cutest vintage toddler party dresses that I adore for the shop, started on the third book of the Hunger Games series - I love a good read, and most importantly, I spent a lot of time with the Little Miss without feeling like a frustrated mother. It was nice. I feel like I'm back on my game.

This week my sister Shelly and I are planning to start on some handmade Christmas presents for our little girls. Here are some of my inspiration photos...

I'm excited to get started, especially since it snowed last night which gets me in the Christmas spirit! Are you making any handmade gifts this year?

Goodbye week. I know I never officially said hello, but you wouldn't have wanted to hang out with me anyway. Not with the rain cloud that's been hanging over my head. This little girl has been challenging me and I am sorry to say that I haven't been as patient, caring, or loving a mother as I should have been. I realize now that I am the one who needs a time out. So this weekend I am putting myself on time out to relax, let my to-do list get longer, and give my little girl more hugs and kisses.

I'll see you  next week when the sun is shining again.

shop update: holiday part 2

Here is another round of holiday clothes I've just added to the shop. I can't even tell you the 'eek!' I let out when I found that little guy in the upper left corner. I really hope whoever buys it will send me pictures. Hope your weekend is going well!

baby bump: week 22

22 down, 18 to go! That doesn't sound like much time to me, yikes! At this point I am stretching my wardrobe to its limits, literally. Most of the time I lounge around in yoga pants (or jeggings) but I decided I should try and look somewhat done up, so I dug through my closet and rediscovered this vintage plaid number. I had let it fall back to a dark corner because I didn't really like the look of the elastic waistband - which is now exactly what I need and love about it!

I'm feeling great and baby girl(!) is moving more and more each day. This is my favorite time of pregnancy - not too big yet but definitely showing. I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts, along with the beautiful fall weather we've been having this week.

Speaking of this week, it has been a doozy (how do you spell that?). Among other things, our second car broke down and now it is a goner. It was my high school/college car so it definitely got good use, but its still a little sad to say goodbye... Dear car, thank you for keeping me safe when that bus cut me off and the van behind me slammed into the back of you. Oh, and the other two times you got rear-ended. And the time we went on that road trip and your oil cap got left off and I basically drove you to death (and in that instance thanks dad for bringing you back to life). And all the other more fun times. We had a good run.

Happy Friday everyone!

boy or girl?

It is probably obvious that I would have a stash of vintage baby clothes put away for 'someday.' And the weeks before our ultrasound appointment I would go through my 'boy' and 'girl' piles (a glimpse below) and wonder which ones I would get to use next. Sneakers or Mary Janes? Dresses or T-shirts?

And now I don't have to wonder anymore because we know who is coming! So, in the tradition of our baby announcement, scroll down and the Little Miss will tell you...

And we couldn't be more excited and happy to have her join our family next March!

So the boy clothes are being put away for 'someday' again and the girl clothes are being washed and neatly folded, getting ready for use (although I'm sure she will rock those sneakers anyway). We can't wait to meet her.

shop update: holiday part 1

Here is the first round of holiday clothes I've just added to the shop. There is still more to come but I think we're off to a good start!  Are you starting to think about Christmas yet?
