smooch

Can't get enough of her kisses. I hope she doesn't grow up and become embarrassed to give her momma a smooch every day.

plaid jumper

I haven't sewed anything since this. Then yesterday it was like all the energy I have been lacking got zapped back into my body. I took a shower, blow-dried my hair, did the dishes, made lunch, went on three errands, cooked dinner, folded the laundry, and started a sewing project. Goodbye first trimester!

The top of this dress was a vintage jumper that needed some tlc. I just took the stretched out skirt off and replaced it. Call it lazy or maybe genius because half the work was done for me (I'm getting back into the swing of things slowly - ha). I've used this plaid fabric before, but she has already grown out of that dress.

I already have another dress idea brewing in my head which makes me happy. I have been feeling so uninspired that its nice to have some creative thoughts flowing again.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

my picture book of songs

(On her birthday with her Aunt Heather)

As promised, here is a closer look at the music book the Little Miss got for her birthday. She loves flipping through it and looking at all the colorful cute pictures while I try to pick out the tunes to the songs (I'm not very good and we don't have a piano).

My mom told me she remembers my Grandmother teaching children to sing using this book. It was written by three women during the WW2 era with the purpose to help make children happy in the midst of their fathers going off to war and their mothers having to work. We really love its gorgeous illustrations and fun songs and think it was the perfect gift!

Does it make you happy?

brain freeze

I feel like the summer is slipping through my fingers. Even though I am lucky to have good pregnancies I still feel a bit like I am coming out of the first trimester fog. What happened to July and is it really the last day of August? Did I sleep through all of it?

So I decided I need to make the best of these last few weeks of warm weather and try to savor the summer we have left. Eating ice cream on the front porch while waiting for daddy to get home seemed like a good way to get things rolling.

The Little Miss experienced her first brain freeze which I took as an omen that we are off to a good start!

thank you picture notes

At the Little Miss' music party I made a photo shoot wall by taping up sheets of vintage music ripped from an old saxophone book I thrifted. I had all the guests take their pictures while playing instruments with the idea in mind that I would use the photos for thank yous. I finally got around to sending them out today. Each family got the first 'thank you' picture and then their own picture with an individualized message from the Little Miss.

Here are just a few samples...

...it was a fun way to capture everyone who was there.

#2

Baby #2 is on the way (insert picture of us celebrating that I forgot to take)! I was going to make this announcement a couple of weeks ago but I got a little paranoid and realized that I hadn't even made a doctor appointment to hear the heartbeat yet. So, it was put off until today when I could hear the miracle of that little 'thump, thump, thump' for myself. And now that I know for certain I am not going crazy and eating like a mad woman for no reason I wanted to share the news!

These pictures were taken almost a month ago to help break the news to our families. I wore that same outfit on Sunday again and it is definitely tighter. So far I haven't gained any weight but my belly is already permanently sticking out at three months along.

So far so good though. As long as I am eating small meals every two hours I feel great (which makes me feel extremely lucky). Although I will say that I have had major laziness as a side effect which I am sure you have noticed. I've been enjoying laying on the couch or taking afternoon naps when I would usually be sewing or working on a project. Hopefully I'll get over that soon. We are all so excited to add to our family!
