first harvest

(mesclun mix lettuce, early girl tomatoes, rainbow chard, spinach)

After losing half our garden to a late frost and having to start over with seed, this little harvest I picked today is very satisfying. Especially since I was able to get to the lettuce before whatever animal has been eating it. Soon we will have zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, kale, and orange and purple carrots as well. I'll have to incorporate this into our dinner tonight. Yum.

weekend snapshot

I convinced Husband to start what my father dubbed as "a dreaded 'honey-do' project" - stripping the paint off the dresser I found a few weeks ago. It is much less white than this now, but there is still a long way to go. This blog post was providential in timing and gave us some helpful tips, but I don't think we will have the grand unveiling of the 'after' for some weeks. Stripping is definitely a labor of love. Don't think about that sentence too hard.

Did you get any projects started/done this weekend?

going on a bear hunt...

We're off on our first camping trip of the summer this afternoon. I'm excited to be able to spend an unplugged weekend with family with only card games and conversation for entertainment. It will be a nice break.

I have big plans for the Little Miss' birthday party when I get back so hopefully things will pick back up around here and become more interesting - I let summer laziness set in, but I'm feeling ready to shake it off and get to work. Hope you have a great weekend!

trafalgars square

Recently I did a trade with Kit from Trafalgars Square and received these two sweet prints in the mail. I must say they are even more gorgeous in person and I can't wait to get them up on the nursery wall once we re-paint (which we haven't found the time to do so far this busy summer). She is having a sale in her shop so now is the time to snag yourself a print or two. She is great to work with!

deja vu

I had a serious deja vu moment last week when I stumbled upon a vintage outfit I had already sold in the shop last year - the best part being it was one of my favorite items ever so I was elated to find another one! The talented Merrilee from Mer Mag scored the first one and doesn't her son look so dapper in it? Unfortunately, this time around the shorts were no where to be found, but the jacket, shirt, and bow tie are all available right here.

sale!

There is a Summer Sale going on in the shop starting today. Get up to 30% off! See the shop announcement for details and feel free to spread the word. This would be a great time to stock up on Christmas and/or baby shower gifts. Thanks!

shop love {midstate vintage}

I run across so many well curated vintage shops that I thought I would start sharing some of my favorites. Midstate vintage is a recent find for me, but I am blown away by the selection. There are some amazing pieces for bigger kids, several of which I am completely in love with, and the models couldn't be more adorable either. See more here.
